When you are looking at smartphones, you may not always think of Nokia in the same breath. Here Nokia N76 will change that perception. The N76 runs a Symbian platform and is packed with a lot of features. The N76 has a serious focus on music and has an FM radio, music player and a 3.5mm headset jack for decent headphones. The sound quality is excellent with this phone. However, there are some problems such as not working on a 3G band network and with the A2DP Bluetooth. Battery life is also an issue here.
Plainly the European version of Nokia N97 is better qualified and American version is missing out due to serious restrictions in the phone's capacity. Overall, it is a good phone but users will want more from a phone of this particular type. Let's take a look at the phone and its components.
This is a basic clamshell design with a Symbian OS 9.2 and 44 MB total Ram. 128 MB Rom and GPRS frequencies of 850/1800/1900/900 are also included here. The N76 sports a 2.4-inch QVGA TFT screen which may display 16M colours. The exterior screen is 256k colors with 128x160 pixels. It also has poly ringtones and Bluetooth technology. In terms of size and weight, Nokia N76 measures 106.5x52x13.7mm and weighs 115g. You have the option to expand the memory to 2GB through the microSD card. You can use multimedia video recording such as QVGA, MPEG-4 and VBR with an audio of AAC low complexity. You can also make video calls and use multimedia messaging with this particular phone. Messaging systems such as SMS, MMS, IM and other messaging types are fully supported with this phone.
You also have a 2.0 megapixel camera included with this particular phone. This comes with a 20 x digital zoom along with an LED flash and video capture in QVGA. You have the capacity for FM radio, Music player, Real Player and video streaming, storage, editing, downloading and sharing. The music player supports WMA, MR3, AAC and MIDI, eAAC, M4A and Wav formats. You also have full connectivity with local and remote connectivity, USB 2.o support with a mini USB and Bluetooth technology. You also have data transfer such as WCDMA, WAP, EDGE and GPRS.
Also included in this phone is a Nokia browser that has Mini Map included. You also have organizers such as contacts, phone books, converter, to do list and notes. For other features you have ring tones, games, screensavers and wallpapers. For Internet lovers, you can access information that you need with mobile search, download personalization for your phone and access the Internet. The N76 is powered by a standard Li-lon 700mAh battery which offers you up to 200h (2G) / 192h (3G) standby time and up to 2h 45 min (2G) / 2 h (3G) talk time.
With that being said,
Nokia N76 is a good phone but is with some design flaws and not enough battery time. The European market has the better deal, but with the design flaws and a poor battery, you would wish for something just a little bit better for paying for a premium phone such as this one. So for an European phone it is good but there are much better options when it comes to phones of this size.
